1. Data We Collect

When you use Braided Ink, we collect:

• Account information: Email address and display name
• Reading data: Your reading position, favorites, and preferences for each book
• Purchase history: Records of illustrated editions you have purchased

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide the Braided Ink reading experience. We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Your reading positions, favorites, and preferences are strictly isolated. No personal data is shared between users. Illustrated edition content (book text and scene images) is shared across all readers by design, but your interaction with it remains private.

3. Third-Party AI Services

We use third-party AI service providers to generate scene images for our illustrated editions. This processing happens once, when we ingest a book into the catalog — before it is made available to readers. Your personal reading activity is not sent to AI services. We select providers that do not use customer inputs for model training.

4. Cookies

We use a single session cookie for authentication. It is HttpOnly, Secure, and SameSite=Lax. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies.

5. Data Retention

Your personal data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your reading progress, favorites, style preferences, and account information are permanently deleted after a 7-day grace period. Access to purchased illustrated editions ends upon account deletion.

6. Data Security

Passwords are hashed using Argon2id. Sessions use HMAC-SHA256 signed cookies. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. User data is strictly isolated by user ID.

7. Your Rights

You can:

• Access your account data through the app settings
• Delete your account and all associated data at any time
• Contact us to request information about your stored data

8. Children’s Privacy

Braided Ink is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email.
